Choose Content Type
Select what type of content you want to encode: URL, plain text, email, phone number, SMS, WiFi credentials, or vCard contact information. Different types optimize the QR code format for best compatibility.Enter Your Data
Input the content you want to encode in the QR code. For URLs, include the full address (https://). For WiFi, enter network name and password. For vCards, fill in contact details like name, email, and phone.Customize Appearance
Choose custom colors for your QR code to match your branding. Select the foreground (dark) and background (light) colors, ensuring sufficient contrast for reliable scanning. Adjust the size based on your use case.Set Error Correction
Select an error correction level based on where the QR code will be used. Low for digital screens, Medium for indoor prints, Quartile for outdoor use, and High if you plan to add a logo overlay.Generate and Download
Click generate to create your QR code, then download it as PNG or SVG format. PNG works for most uses, while SVG provides vector graphics that scale perfectly for print materials of any size.
Tips & Tricks
Test Before Printing
Always test your QR code with multiple devices and QR code readers before mass printing. Scan it from different distances and angles to ensure reliability across various smartphone cameras.
Ensure Proper Contrast
Use dark colors for the QR code itself and light backgrounds for best scanning. While you can use brand colors, avoid low-contrast combinations like yellow on white or dark blue on black.
Size for Distance
The scanning distance is approximately 10 times the QR code size. A 2cm QR code can be scanned from 20cm away. For posters viewed from afar, use larger QR codes (10cm or more).
Use URL Shorteners
For long URLs, use a URL shortener first. Shorter URLs create simpler QR codes with fewer dots, making them easier to scan and more reliable, especially at smaller sizes.
Include Call-to-Action Text
When using QR codes in marketing, add text like 'Scan for 10% off' or 'Scan to visit website.' This increases scan rates by clearly communicating the benefit of scanning.
Choose the Right Format
Use PNG for digital use and most printing needs. Choose SVG for professional printing, large formats like banners, or when you need to resize the code multiple times without quality loss.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I encode in a QR code?
You can encode URLs, plain text, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS messages, WiFi credentials, and vCard contact information. Our generator supports all standard QR code data types for maximum flexibility.
How do I customize my QR code's appearance?
Customize your QR code by changing the foreground and background colors, adjusting the size, and selecting the error correction level. Higher error correction allows the QR code to work even if partially damaged or obscured.
What size should my QR code be?
For print materials, QR codes should be at least 2x2 cm (0.8x0.8 inches). For digital use, 300x300 pixels is a good minimum. Our generator lets you create larger sizes for billboards or smaller ones for business cards.
What is error correction level?
Error correction allows QR codes to be readable even when partially damaged. Low (7%) is fine for digital use, Medium (15%) for most prints, Quartile (25%) for outdoor use, and High (30%) when you need maximum reliability or want to add a logo overlay.
Can I add a logo to my QR code?
While our generator doesn't directly add logos, you can use High error correction and carefully overlay a logo in the center (covering no more than 30% of the code). Always test the QR code after adding a logo to ensure it still scans properly.
Are the QR codes free to use commercially?
Yes! All QR codes generated are free to use for personal or commercial purposes without attribution. QR codes are an open standard, so there are no licensing restrictions on their use.
How long do QR codes last?
QR codes generated with static data (like URLs or text) last forever. The QR code itself doesn't expire. However, if you encode a URL that later becomes inactive, the QR code will lead to a dead link.
Can I track scans of my QR code?
Static QR codes (like ours) cannot track scans directly. To track scans, encode a URL to a link shortener service that provides analytics, or use a dynamic QR code service that hosts the redirects.
